Kassym-Jomart Tokayev was briefed on the performance of the Baiterek holding for the first half of 2023, including the progress of initiatives supporting entrepreneurship, the agro-industrial complex, and housing provision for the population.
According to the data presented to the President, the volume of financing for large businesses amounted to 114.4 billion tenge. The holding actively supports the development of small and medium-sized businesses, in particular through the Damu Fund, which has supported more than 15 thousand entrepreneurs.
The Head of State was informed that since the beginning of 2023, Otbasy Bank has helped provide housing for 29 thousand families. The bank actively participates in the rental subsidy program, which is a form of gratuitous state support for citizens, including persons with disabilities of groups I and II, families raising children with disabilities, orphans, and large families. In the first half of the year, more than 9 thousand applications were approved.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev was also informed that through JSC “Agrarian Credit Corporation,” over 271 billion tenge has been allocated since the beginning of the year, supporting about 9 thousand farmers. This year, 3.5 million hectares of land have been sown, accounting for 15% of the country’s total sown area. To strengthen food security and reduce import dependence, more than 131 billion tenge has been allocated for financing investment projects in agriculture. More than 70% of agricultural sector financing is provided through JSC “Agrarian Credit Corporation” and JSC “KazAgroFinance.”
In conclusion, the President issued a number of specific instructions aimed at improving conditions for business development and enhancing social housing policy.
